I’ve been experimenting with direct animation (or drawn-on animation), using 8mm film. The process involves taking developed 8mm film and bleaching it to remove some or all of the emulsion. You can then apply inks, paints and other materials to the film in order to create colourful textures.

My PhD is now bound and completely finished, and so I have also uploaded everything to the PhD page of this site. You can read it as a PDF, and you can download zip files of the discs that go with it. I decided to make my PhD available online in order to make it accessible to anyone who is interested.

Footwork tunes

I’ve been enjoying a lot of the Chicago footwork/juke stuff lately: e.g. Traxman, Dj Rashad and co. These tracks are my experiments with footwork-type rhythmic patterns. This was also a chance to try out Rob Papin’s ‘Punch’ plugin, very nice drum synth.

Mandelbulb 3D

Experimenting with Mandelbulb 3D. This is an excellent piece of software which allows you to render fractals in 3D, including animation. There are some excellent examples on youtube. Below are some of my attempts.
